A bad loss and perhaps Pep Guardiola’s worst performance. Nothing went right and outside the opening 15 minutes, City rarely created anything of note. As we check the reaction, it is dire on social media, but we have to remember this is far from City’s best side and are only six points off the top.

On to the reaction-

Pep Guardiola Reaction

“The better team won,” the boss said.

Aston Villa was better than us. They are well organised, fast and [have] physical players and team and they are able to control many aspects.

“That is the reason why they are up there, playing good football and we could not do it.

“The results are not good and that’s why I have to sleep, look back at the games and figure it out,” said the boss.

“Rodri is an important player of course but when he is not there we have to find a way to win without him.

“Six points [off the top] and we would prefer to be top of the league but we made three draws and lose today.

“In these years we have found a way to win games but we struggled a bit and we have to find a way.

“It is my job to find a solution. The dynamic changes by winning games. When a team is better you have to recognise it.”

“I said to the players, in football it happens, I know you want it, I know you can do it because you proved it to me and everyone many times.

“I have to reflect on this one and try to do it.”
