This weekend Chelsea welcome Manchester City to Stamford Bridge for a lunch time kick off in the Premier League. Chelsea are currently joint top after 5 matches with 13 points whereas we are 3 points behind, so this is an early chance to take points off one of the favourites, who strengthened well over the summer with the resigning Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan and Saul on loan from Atletico Madrid.
The motive of Pep Guardiola and the team will be to just win the game, but we fans want revenge for the heartbreak we suffered in our maiden Champions League final as well as losing to them in the league and FA Cup Semi Final.
In that final, Guardiola decided to tinker with the line-up and not start with a proper CDM, meaning we were opened up a lot in that game by Chelsea. This led to the only goal that won them the final. We were poor in the FA Cup semi-final, and would probably have won the league match had Agüero not missed that penalty. We fans will want revenge for the three defeats, and the team can use those matches as inspiration to beat them in the latest battle.
I feel Pep might have a plan up his sleeve to tactically dominate the Tuchel system, but we will have to wait until Saturday lunch time to see what occurs. We will have to watch out for Reece James, summer signing Lukaku, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount and midfield superstar N'Golo Kante, all of whom are fine players.
So let's wait and see and fingers crossed we beat them.
Come on City!
