Cristiano Ronaldo, the top goal scorer in the history of football, is returning to Manchester United. After flirting with City for the last few days, and with a deal seemingly in place, the talks broke down at the last second and now it seems United are set to sign their former talisman.
Just 24 hours ago, it seemed that City were going to Ronaldo after missing out on a deal fro Harry Kane. Now that both deals have fallen through, one can only view this transfer window as a failure. The signing of Jack Grealish was wonderful, but not enough to offset the sting of these two negotiating defeats.
| BREAKING: #ManCity will not be signing Cristiano Ronaldo. They considered the possibility but decided against, says @sistoney67.

The blame lies squarely at the feet of the Manchester City board. Txiki Bergstein and Fernando Soriano must shoulder the bulk of this failure. With just four days left in the summer transfer window, it would be truly difficult to find a deal that would lessen the sting for City fans.
