An absolute legend of the women’s game has announced that she will retire form international football. Carli Lloyd is ending her 17-year career after this fall’s slate of international friendlies for the USWNT. She will reportedly play out her club season in NWSL with Gotham FC.

Carli played just one season on loan for City, scoring three goals in 10 appearances. That said, her stature in the game overall is undeniable. She scored 128 goals for the US. She also won two Women’s World Cups (2015 and 2019) and two Olympic Golds (2008 and 2012). She also helped City bring home the 2016/17 Women’s FA Cup.

We at Bitter and Blue would like to congratulate Carli on a spectacular career and we wish her all the best going forward.
