Aymeric Laporte, Rodrigo and Ferran Torres’ hopes of Euro 2020 glory are over at the semi-final stage after Spain were beaten on penalties by Italy in a nervy match at Wembley Stadium.
The two sides gave it all they could and played 120 minutes, but in the end Dani Olmo and Alvaro Morata’s failure to convert from the spot sent Roberto Mancini’s side into Sunday’s final with a 4-2 penalty victory.
Laporte and Torres both started, while Rodrigo was brought on in the 70th minute for Luis Enrique’s side, who were as usual, dominant in possession for the whole match.
Ferran, notably had a great tournament and could pay dividends when this season rolls around.

In the semi final, with the legs tiring, it seemed this great match was destined for penalties under the Wembley lights.
Italy started and despite Manuel Locatelli seeing his opening kick saved by Unai Simon, Dani Olmo and Morata failed to beat Donnarumma, allowing Chelsea’s Jorginho to calmy knock in the deciding kick and send the Azzurri into a frenzy
Roberto Mancini’s side will face one of Denmark or England in Sunday’s final.
Best of luck to Mancini!
