At the Euros this summer, Manchester City will have 15 players playing for their national sides.
One of those will be Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne. He will want to lead the golden generation in Belgian footballing history to the European crown. However, he will miss the first game against Russia, having just came back from surgery to correct his damaged eye socket he received in the Champions League final.
Another player who will be playing for their nation is Nathan Ake (Netherlands). He will want to impress in order to get a starting XI place for Manchester City next season as injury prevented him from playing much for us this season, thus reducing the amount he could impress us.
Ukraine’s Oleksandr Zinchenko is one of his country’s star players, and is playing on the back of a great season for City. And the way the draw has fallen means that Ake and Zinchenko could be facing each other if both feature in the group match between Netherlands and Ukraine.
The Three Lions contingent consists of John Stones, Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden. Stones, who had an excellent Premier League campaign after setbacks the season before, will want to show that he is at at his prime and is full of confidence. Walker had another good season for City and will want to perform like he is has for England, whereas Sterling was below his usual high standards this season and will want to impress Pep this summer. Also, Phil Foden had a brilliant season and will want to show that he is a world class gifted player on the big stage.
City’s Spanish trio of Ferran Torres, who will want to keep up his recent brilliant form and show Pep that he should starting, Aymeric Laporte, who will play for his new nation and will want to impress Pep in order to be City's starting centre half and Rodri will all be pushing to make the national side’s starting XI.
The Spanish squad will also have a former City player but will join Barca when his contract expires in Eric Garcia.
Ilkay Gündogan, who was City’s top scorer this season, might be one of Germany's star players should they win the Euros.
Portugal will be represented by City’s Ruben Dias , Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo. Cancelo will want to play well in order to dislodge Walker as first choice right back at City next season. Bernardo and Dias will want to show that they are top class players at the Euros. This means that Gundogan could be meeting the Portugal duo again.
