In May, Manchester City defender Ruben Dias won the Football Writers Association player of the season award and he has now completed the double after being named the Premier Leagues Player of the Season. Dias beat Bruno Fernandes, Mo Salah, Mason Mount, Tomas Soucek, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, and teammate Kevin de Bruyne (last season’s winner).
Dias was at the heart of City’s defense alongside John Stones, with the Blues conceding just 32 goals this season helping them on to win the Premier League. Before Dias joined, City had won one in three league games, and of course, beginning in November started a streak of 15 successive Premier League victories and a 21-match unbeaten run.

City signed Dias back in September for £65 million and has made 32 Premier League appearances since, with 15 clean sheets in that time. Dias has been instrumental in City’s success this season and it is safe to say he deserves this award, having just turned 24 years old there is a lot more success to come in a sky blue shirt for the young center-half.
