It seems everyone wants Manchester City to buy a new striker to replace Sergio Aguero, and with the British media focusing on the latest chapter of ‘Harry Kane and the incredibly over-inflated price tag,’ the Spanish media are now getting in on the act.
Spanish site Fichajes have reported that City could move for a former target in the shape of Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona.
However, they have strangely stated that City intend to ‘break the transfer market,’ and will make an offer of over £100m for Jack Grealish, although they have stated this amount is in Euros and not GBP.
And the site has claimed that manager Pep Guardiola sees Griezmann as the ideal candidate to take on the false nine position that worked so well for the blues last season. City allowed Aguero to leave the blues this summer, and the Argentine legend will line up alongside Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp next season, and it is no secret that the blues are in the hunt for a replacement.
Griezmann has spent just two years at Barca, scoring 35 goals from 99 appearances, however the striker is still regarding as one of the most dangerous in Europe. But at 30 years old, would it be worth taking a risk on a striker that has spent his entire playing career in Spain?
