In the first match of Euro 2020 for England in group D, the Three Lions got off great start by beating Croatia 1-0 in a close match. The game hardly had a chance for either side before Sterling, who received an MBE award in the Queen’s birthday honours yesterday, struck the ball into the net following an assist from Leeds Kalvin Phillips in the 57 minute.
City players Phil Foden, John Stones and Kyle Walker also started for the national side. Foden was replaced in the 71st minute by Marcus Rashford and Sterling was replaced by Dominic Calvert Lewin in the 92nd minute. Defenders John Stones and Kyle Walker played the full game and defended well throughout.
Both teams had 8 shots on goal with two shots on target with Croatia dominating possession with 51%.
