Nathan Ake has had somewhat of a rough ride since he was injured back on boxing day in our 2-0 against Newcastle. Having only played 11 matches in total for Manchester City, it has been suggested the Dutch national is ‘considering his options’.
Ake has addressed the fact he knows it would be difficult to break the centre-back pairing of John Stones and Ruben Dias and is aware he is behind Aymeric Laporte in Pep Guardiola’s pecking order.

Ake further believed he might be able to then fill in at left-back as he has played in the position in the past during his stint at Watford. However, the recent excellent form of both Joao Cancelo and Oleksander Zinchenko means Ake is also behind both of these in his alternate position.
Of course, it has to be realised that this lack of game time is partially due to the injury he picked up, but City fans would have liked to see more. Hopefully, with the Premier League all but wrapped up, this will give Ake a chance to make an impression on the fans and the boss.
City fans would be sad to see Ake leave after just 12 months; however, nothing is near confirmed and it has to be expected that with such little game time Ake would want to play more and has the ability to be starting weekly for most Premier League teams.
