Manchester City go again on Tuesday as they face a game Brighton side. Pep speaking prior to that match had a lot to say about Kevin De Bruyne’s injury status, Ferran Torres and much more.
Let’s dive in-
“It took skill and talent and action. Ferran has always had the ability and showed in training.
“He is a good finisher, has pace and quality and decision making is always good.
“We have three games left for the end of season. We use him in that position because in a long period of season Gabriel and Sergio were injured.
“Some games we need a proper striker and we use him and he did well.
“His position is a winger, of course, but it’s an alternative. That’s all.
“Phil Foden can play on the wing and Joao Cancelo can play both sides and in the middle.
“We have players who can play in different positions and Ferran is one of them.”
‘ Listen, for all the people, we are here like never before. Just for the fact everyone is focused you don’t have to say anything. It’d be different if we still had to win the Premier League, we have two or three games left, but people could drop.’
‘People need to maintain rhythm to play their best in the final as possible, and the only way is to train well. We train as usual to arrive at the Brighton game and Everton game, then the Champions League as best as possible.’
‘We focus, we will have six days to prepare for the final, that goes into the details, now we prepare for the Brighton game like we have done all season. Working to prepare for Brighton helps us for the final. I am not focused on Chelsea.’
‘We wouldn’t prepare well if we weren’t prepared for Brighton and Brighton and Everton. Tomorrow we are going to play a game to win again, it’s the best way to arrive for the final. Final five or six games will be more focused for Chelsea.’
‘ Yeah he’s training for the last two days, he feels good. [De Bruyne]’
‘That’s good tomorrow with Brighton fans and the last game we lift the trophy with fans in the Etihad and the final as well. It’s nice, hopefully it will happen next season.’
‘Today I saw the team after two days off, they are so focused. We will play the next game and prepare for the final. I have no doubts about the incredible commitment to do what we have to do to win the three games we still have.’
‘ Kev is important like everyone is. The fact when we are able to stick together and be able to push each other will be possible to win it. Kevin is important everyone knows it but everyone is at the same level, we will see his level and see if he is fit to play.’
‘Ederson will play the next two games.’
Pep is no doubt adept at getting the team ready and with just over two weeks for the UCL Final, I have no doubt he will. We’ll see what he plays tomorrow, but I’d imagine a mix of rotation and starters.
