After a long and complete season, Manchester City have finished second to a very good Chelsea side. Gareth Taylor knows and believes his team will bounce back and be even better next season.
City played incredibly this campaign, with a 55-point haul it is a record tally for a second-placed side in the competition’s history, and City tasted defeat just once in 22 matches.
A great run and one where Taylor is excited to see continue next season.
Let’s see what he said:
“The margin for error is very tight. To lose the title by a couple of points and one defeat, we’d been on a tremendous run as well,” the City boss reflected after our 1-0 win over West Ham.
“We just need more time, we need more time and we’ve seen real improvement, especially in the way we play.
“We’ve run a very good team very close by playing our way and by playing with good exciting football, with pace, scoring goals.
“It’s just constant improvements, even if we were successful and won the league this season we’d still be looking to improve, we’re always looking to get better.
“We’ve done some really good things this season and made some really significant steps.”
“I’m new to this, teams around us have done this for longer with different coaches at the helm for a while.
“I’m excited about it and we can only go from strength to strength.”
Taylor will need just a bit more both in coaching and in players, but next season can be a wonderful opportunity for a great season for Manchester City.
