The date for Manchester City Women’s title showdown with champions Chelsea has been announced by the club.

The clash with the WSL leaders was scheduled for 25th April, but because of Chelsea’s continued involvement in the Champions League, the match at the Academy Stadium will now take place on Wednesday 21st April with a 6pm kick off.

Both teams are in excellent form and a win for City will take send them one point clear of their opponents at the top of the table. The blues would then have to beat Birmingham City at home and West Ham away to guarantee the WSL title.

The blues lost 3-1 to Chelsea when the two met in October, but City have since won 13 of their last 15 WSL matches, including a run of 12 consecutive wins, the latest coming courtesy of a 3-0 win at Spurs on Sunday.

Should the blues win all three of their final matches, it will be their first WSL title since 2016 and a first for manager Gareth Taylor in his first full season in charge.
