Manchester City missed out on the chance to move top of the Women’s Super League after being held to a disappointing 2-2 draw versus Chelsea.
Thanks to a Chloe Kelly’s close-range finish that cancelled out Sam Kerr’s headed opener before the half hour. Things seemed up for City until Pernille Harder catapulted the league leaders in front once again before the break with a penalty.
Gareth Taylor’s side worked hard for the equalizer, and earned it when Lauren Hemp stepped up and took advantage on a bad clearance from Millie Bright with 15 to play.
Then, Manchester City gave it their all coming close several times in search of a winner.
In the end, the search for all three points was for naught. The stalemate means Man City remains two points behind Emma Hayes’ side with two matches of the season to play.
A minor miracle will be needed for City to claim the title this season.
