Manchester City Women welcome Italian side Fiorentina to Manchester, looking to extend their recent good form and put one foot in the Champions League quarter final. The blues eased into the last 16 by beating Goteborg FC 5-1 on aggregate, while their Italian opponents edged out Slavia Praha, going through with a 3-2 aggregate win.

Form

The blues go into the match on the back of a 4-0 win at Birmingham in the WSL and their only defeat came at the hands of Chelsea in the Intercontinental Cup in January. Fiorentina suffered their first league defeat of 2021, when they lost 2-0 to Florentia at the weekend.

Team News

City welcome back Janine Beckie after she missed the match at Birmingham due to a calf injury and also suffered from fatigue after featuring for Canada in the SheBelieves Cup. Keira Walsh, Demi Stokes and Gemma Bonner are likely to be unavailable due to injury.

Statistics

This will be City’s first meeting with Fiorentina.

City have won their last five games, while Fiorentina have won just one of their last five in all competitions.

Prediction

City are on a great run of form and I think this will only continue against the Italian outfit.

City 3-0 Fiorentina
