ESPNFC Names Manchester City’s Sam Mewis Best Women’s Player

Another accolade for City women.

Manchester City continue to add acclaims and accolades all over the world.

This time the women make their names heard as midfielder Sam Mewis has been voted as the Best Women’s Player in a poll conducted by ESPN FC.

The American World Cup winner came top of a survey conducted amongst women’s football experts by the broadcaster.

Mewis has made a marvelous impact since joining City from North Carolina Courage last summer.

The list was peppered with women from the FA Women’s Super League, which is quickly becoming a force in women’s world football. Soon it could be the standard bearer for leagues all across the world. To that strength’s note, the top five of this list was made up of players from the English top flight.

Mewis was joined in the top five by her mate at City in Lucy Bronze, with the defender and current FIFA best women’s player ranked in fifth spot with Sam Kerr, Vivianne Miedema and Pernille Harder making up the rest.

Looking forward, the women play a huge match tomorrow as they face Barcelona in the Champions League.
