Ilkay Gundogan knows who is responsible for this incredible run Manchester City is on. Pep Guardiola’s influence is invaluable and he spoke about that and much more in his pre match press conference to the UCL match tomorrow.

Let’s dive in-

“Having the right tactics, a manager who always gives you the right solutions. The mentality the hard work we do on the training ground.”

“We go into games with a lot of confidence. All this leads to an incredible run.”

“I’ve seen Gladbach a lot in the last few months and they have a great team, great spirit and on a good day can beat anyone, they did with Shakhtar Donetsk in the group stage.”

“They have a lot of quality, energy and drive.”

“It is always satisfying when you play well.”

“I play a different role, more offensive and try to get close to the opponent’s box. That is more dangerous and leads to more goals. But because I score more goals, it doesn’t mean I play better.”

“Fernandinho is leading us and is there when we need him. His performance against Arsenal was incredible, he is always there for us and talks to us. And then of course the way he plays.”

“He is a real leader. He’s someone we need.”

“That is the only way to win and achieve great things. At the moment everything seems balanced so well, not only the players on the pitch who shine but those on the bench or also those who are not travelling, just training with us...”

“Full credit to our manager. He realised something was wrong, something was missing, he adjusted some things and that’s why he’s the best manager in the world.”

Interesting comments. With full credit to Pep Guardiola, this City squad has come to life and that’s led to 18 straight wins. Ilkay knows why and his form is a reflection of that as he is enjoying perhaps his best form ever.

Hopefully that streak continues tomorrow.
