John Stones’ superb displays in the heart of City’s defence have not gone unnoticed amongst blues fans, nor it seems on a national level as the defender has been nominated for Premier League Player of the Month for December.

Stones was in and out of the team last season, but with the acquisitions of Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias, Stones has upped his game and has been one of the most consistent performers in the City team this season.

The defender scored the opening goal with his err...thigh (we’ll go with that) against United on Wednesday and his solid defensive partnership with Ruben Dias has blossomed this season, much to the delight of the City fans who have been singing his praises on social media platforms, to which Stones has reciprocated.

“I can’t thank them enough for their support and their patience as well. They love the club, support the players through thick and thin and that’s something special about fans.,” said Stones. “To go through hard moments and know they are still behind you, I’d just like to say a big thanks to them. I honestly do really wish they were back in the stadium, we want to see them all soon.”

Stones is up against Aston Villa duo Anwar El Ghazi and Emiliano Martinez, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford from the Stretford Rangers, Burnley’s Ben Mee, Tomas Soucek of West Ham and Mohamed Salah of Liverpool.

Good luck John and congratulations on the nomination.
