The European Super League has been a tour de force in recent discussion all across Europe. Everyone and their nan has an opinion. Now Pep Guardiola, one of the world’s premier managers has given input.
Pep Guardiola on a ‘European Super League’:
“We cannot lose what means a lot. What does the FA Cup mean? Leagues? We should make every league stronger. We need quality not quantity. We have to reduce the teams. We cannot kill lower divisions or the Premier League itself.”
I agree with Pep and with recent news of FIFA themselves coming down hard on teams and limiting player movements if it would to happen is a clear sign most are against.
It seems clear a small set of elite clubs are for with Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus leading the charge. The latter in particular are pushing heavily for it. I would be against. It would seem to be a pure greed motivated decision to have a a closed system Super League. It removes what most of us love about football. We’ll have to wait and see if it progresses.
Thoughts on Pep’s comments? Do you want a Super League?
