Manchester City continue their scintillating form. Thanks to Phil Foden’s goal before the break, that gave City a hard-earned 1-0 win over Brighton.

Even when Raheem Sterling missed an added time penalty, with visitors struggling to maintain, City held on for a win.

The victory means City will end the night in the top four, four points behind leaders United with a game in hand.

A great win and clean sheet. We move. On to the reaction-

Pep Guardiola Reaction

“In general, it is another clean sheet and therefore a big effort by everyone not just the back four.

“It was the best thing that could happen to us today, struggling in the last 10 or 15 minutes of the game.

“Today we only concede one good chance and a few crosses but nothing really clear and that means a lot for us.”

“I said many times what I think about Phil - the number of games goals, assists and kilometers he runs for the team,”

“He’s a guy close to the goals he has a special instinct - his standards are higher and he deserves to play.

“I try to judge the team day by day; recent performances and he lives 24 hours for football. I have the feeling he lives 24 hours a day to play football!

“He’s happiest when he plays games or when his training. Everyone can see the standard of his performance.”

“I don’t know but I’m pretty sure he will be selected for Euros and I’m pretty sure he was impressed tonight like the rest of us.”

“My first thought is Palace on Sunday,” Guardiola added.

“Because no matter if you are a top side or if you have the quality of players we have, when you are up against the personality and courage that Graham Potter’s team it always will be difficult - we knew it, so we did a really good last 15 minutes of the first half when we played a lot of passes and we

“Created five or six clear chances to score in the last 15- 20 minutes - not because we played bad but because they are really, really good.

“It was the best thing that could happen to us today, struggling in the last 10 or 15 minutes of the game.

“Pleased for the effort because we have won four games in a row - now for Palace.”
