The game, which will not go down in the history books, saw an England XI captained by Steph Houghton take on another England XI led by Ellen White in a re-run of Friday’s initial fixture which ‘Team White’s won 3-0.

It was ‘Team Houghton’ who took a first half lead courtesy of a Chloe Kelly strike. The Manchester City forward cut in from the right and unleashed a superb shot into the corner of the net.

Despite trailing at the break, ‘Team White’ will have still been confident of turning things around after being so dominant in the initial game on Friday. They did just that, netting two goals in a three-minute spell to win the match 2-1.

First, Manchester City defender Morgan netted her first England goal with a header at the back post before Izzy Christiansen completed the turnaround, tapping home from an Ella Toone delivery. Sadly for Morgan, her goal will not count towards her England tally given the fact that the match was not a competitive fixture.

The England squad are scheduled to return to competitive action for the first time since March next month when they face Germany in Wiesbaden.
