Manchester City stars Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus will not be leaving the club in exchange for Barcelona star Lionel Messi, despite reports that they could be on their way to Spain.
The blues have kept a close counsel on any potential interest in the Argentine striker, and since the star told Barcelona he wants to leave the club earlier this week, speculation has been rife that he is set to link up again with Pep Guardiola, but only in exchange for certain players.
Barcelona are thought to have expressed an interest in defenders Eric Garcia and Angelino, with the former refusing to sign a new contract with City and is looking to move on, while Angelino returned to the club, but was loaned out to RB Leipzig. It is not thought though that the two defenders will be part of any potential deal for Messi.
It is understood that Messi, who has been crowned world player of the year six times, has already spoken to City boss Pep Guardiola about moving to the Premier League, but the Blues are reluctant to give any comments on a potential deal that would possibly be regarded as one of the biggest transfers in world football.
But City are anxious to end rumours that Mahrez, Jesus and fans favourite Silva will not form part of any potential deal. The three stars remain an integral part of Guardiola’s plans and the boss will be expecting them to remain at the club as City look to win back their Premier League crown.
