A no good, terrible and foul night. Man City were eliminated by Lyon in what ended up being one of the worst games under the Guardiola era.

The game started all wrong with a new formation and the players looked lost out there. The loss ultimately falls on the shoulders of Pep Guardiola. In his reaction, to me, he said some nonsensical stuff. So, fair warning and would love to hear your reaction.

Where we go from here is anyone's guess.

On to the reaction-

Pep Guardiola Reaction

“We lost, so my plan didn’t work...”

“You need to be perfect in these competitions, especially in a game, and we weren’t.”

“It is what it is. One day we will break the gap to the semi-finals. Second half was okay, we were there, I had the feeling we were better, but you have to be perfect.”

“[On VAR] I don’t know. I don’t want to talk about the circumstances. It looks like I am complaining or finding causes. We are out. I had the feeling we were ready but we make mistakes. That’s why we are out.”

“This competition, you have to equalise and go to the last minutes or extra time. This competition you have to be perfect. The first goal we have to solve it better. We created more chances. I haven’t seen the stats - we did everything but score.”

“Now yes [they are disappointed], but after the break when we start again, we will recover,” he said.

“We will restart again and try to do it again.

“Of course, I am not able with these guys to break the quarter finals. Three years in a row we are out. “It is part of the game.”

“Life is how you stand up again and next season we will try again.”

“We knew it. The show must go on.

“Now it’s time for the players to take a break.

“We will give them as many days as possible.

“Next season we will be strong and demanding.

“We will now try to sleep, pass 48 hours and then think about next season.”

“Now we go on holidays. We are going back soon. We need to lift the club again. I know once with Manuel [Pellegrini] we arrived in the UCL semi-finals - we have deserved to win in the lasts seasons but we haven’t. One day we will break that gap.”
