Raheem Sterling scored twice as Manchester City rolled more misery on relegation threatened Watford with a 4-0 win at Vicarage Road.
A total attacking display from City saw Sterling move onto a career best 19 Premier League goals for the season with his first half brace, before Phil Foden and Aymeric Laporte completed a complete victory.
It’s City’s first time winning four games in a row in the Premier League.
On to the reaction
Pep Guardiola Reaction
“We were aggressive in more senses today. I said before, be ourselves. We can play better or worse but there is a minimum in desire and passion and we showed it today.”
“For our strikers and wingers goals are important. He [Sterling] did it and make a good season.”
“I think it’s the first time we’re able to win four [in a row] in the #PL. Two seasons ago we made 18, last season 14. That’s how poor our consistency was this season. We’re the same people - something was wrong.”
“The most incredible thing from Joao is now he is a completely different individual from when he arrived. We needed time to understand each other, him to me and the team and me to him too. What I want is his behaviour that he is doing after the restart...”
“When we came back he was the best player in the training session and was incredible and then unfortunately had a little problem on the dangerous part of his leg and he was stopped for a while, but all I want with Joao is this happiness in the training session...”
“Relation with the mates and that he enjoys it because we know the quality that he has. With his happiness in the training sessions he is going to help us a lot in the next seasons. He understands us better than the beginning and we understand him better...”
“Sometimes you need time and now he is happy. He is an incredible communicator, we are delighted in the last few months what he is doing with us.”
Raheem Sterling Reaction
“It’s massive as a winger to score 20 goals in the Premier League,” he said. “It’s a massive achievement and we have one more game left, so I hope I can do it then.
“I scored the first one and I knew I was on 18 so I stepped up. I knew I had another chance to get the hat-trick today, it didn’t happen but I’m really happy with the two goals.”
“After a disappointing match at Wembley we had to find rhythm today and we did,” he admitted.
“We’ve got to take all we can from these remaining league games and we know Madrid have finished the season well.
“We know it’s going to be a strong test.”
