Preview

Manchester City will aim to bounce back from their 2-1 loss at Chelsea, taking heart from the fact they have won both their home matches since the Premier League returned.

Liverpool will be playing their first fixture since being crowned champions and can complete the league double over Pep Guardiola’s side.

A meaningful game in the sense that it is for pride. Both teams will be roaring to go.

Team News

Liverpool are without defender Joel Matip, who expects to miss the rest of the season with a foot injury.

Sergio Aguero is out with a knee injury, but John Stones (ankle) is closing in on a return.

Prediction

Man City come in to this game after a great team win in the FA Cup and should put in a strong and rested starting XI. Liverpool meanwhile, may have a championship high hangover that could benefit City. City should be more fit and rested and because of that it City will come out on top.
