The lock-down caused by the coronavirus pandemic has shifted attention to a new set of heroes. Those are the ones making a difference at the community level. Manchester City is not letting these efforts go unnoticed. The club, alongside key partners Etihad Airways have launched an all-new monthly award geared toward rewarding Cityzens for their heroic acts.
The club announced the new recognition on its official website on Tuesday. Named the Etihad Airways Fan of the Month, the award will be used “to recognise the heroic efforts of City fans who are going the extra mile – and often much further – to help their community and make a genuine difference to people’s lives,” the statement read.
“Maybe it is a City fan who is one of our NHS heroes, a supermarket worker, refuse collector or any number of people who have kept the country running during the lock-down – or perhaps somebody helping those who are unable to get out to collect vital medicines and food… we want to hear about them.”
Fans are encouraged to follow the link below in order to provide information on a Cityzen who deserves the award. So if you happen to know any City fan doing something outstanding to help others in need at this difficult time, by all means make it known using the link.
It is important at this point to lend a helping hand wherever possible. But that should be done while adhering to safety measures put in place by the authorities. The most important thing for now is to stay safe as we wait for when Covid-19 will be defeated. Then we can all enjoy the beautiful game again as we watch City smash those records and hopefully, lift more trophies as well.
