City were far from their best and despite dominating the game from start to finish, City could only mangage to get through with Sergio Aguero’s 53rd-minute goal.
Alas, City win and advance to the next round of the FA Cup.
On the reaction-
Pep Guardiola Reaction
“Premier League we cannot win,” he said. “We can win the FA Cup or Champions League.
“[The game against Sheffield Wednesday] was a final. We knew that. We talked a lot about this game.
“In the end we had success. It’s important we are there. We want to be in the draw, and we are.
“This is our fourth game away in a row and we have another one next Sunday at Old Trafford soon.”
“Kevin had a shoulder problem and was not fit,” he added.
“The last minutes he fell down in a bad position and had a problem. We don’t know how long, hopefully not much.
“Kyle has played a lot lately so we gave him rest for the next games.”
Riyad Mahrez Reaction
“It was tough. We knew it would be tough, but we made the job,”
“Sometimes we have to take the win like this and we’re happy to go through.
”All the team are very focused every game; the manager makes sure we are focused in every competition. We are very strong mentally and we’ll try and win as much as we can.”
”We knew they’d sit back, and we had to pass the ball between the lines and move a lot. We know we have good players on the ball, and we’d create chances.
”There’s still a long way to go, but we are trying to win every game. That’s how we are as a team. We are going to try all the time to play good and win.”
