Pep Guardiola gave his preview press conference ahead of the make up match with Arsenal. He took on a wide variety of topics.
Let’s dig in.
Pep on who could play v Arsenal-
“They [Aguero and Jesus] can play together,” Pep added. “Gabriel can adapt perfectly in that way.
“He doesn’t play really wide. He plays a little bit more inside like, for example, how Arsenal play with Aubameyang.
“Gabriel can play perfectly in that position. In the games he’s played, he’s played really well.
“Sometimes we need more specific wingers in that position. It depends on the quality of the full back, as well.
“Someone has to attack a defence like the last game we had; Sheffield Wednesday defended with five players and so deep.
“You have to make the pitch wide and if you don’t it is more difficult.”
Pep on Mikel Arteta-
“Mikel knows perfectly the way we feel, the way we want to play, and he knows every single player, their strong and their weak points,” Guardiola reflected.
“He has more info about us than I have on the Arsenal team. That’s normal. We worked a huge amount of hours together and thoughts and ideas, solving problems before, during and after the game.
“Especially he knows the individual quality of the players. He knows exactly the way we love this game and the quality of the players. In those terms, I can imagine a little bit what he thinks, but I’ve not been in the locker room since he became a manager and I do not know the players.”
That’s it for this week. Stay tuned for today’s match preview.
