An eventful week comes to a head Saturday as City face Leicester at the King Power.
Pep had his usual talk and previewed this game among many other things he covered.
Let’s dig in.
On Leicester game and UCL clash-
“It was 12 since the last game with Spurs before we played West Ham and the team was not used to time without games,” said Pep.
“It’s not just about trying to extend the gap over Leicester - if we play well we go with more confidence to Madrid - but I won’t be going in thinking about Madrid.
“I said before the home game, how impressed I am with Leicester,” he said.
“I know the job he [Rodgers] did at Liverpool. I saw him at Celtic and thought wow - they were good and aggressive.
“It’s not about the game we played against them here. They have incredible organisation, good scouting., they know what they have to do.
“It’s nice to see teams play like this. It’s good for English football to have managers like this.”
On injuries-
“All of them are okay, not 100 percent some of them,” he said.
“David was smart, intelligent to come off for the last minutes [against West Ham].
“Raheem is in the latter stages [of his recovery]. He’s getting better.
“Leroy is good as well, but, of course, he needs a little more time after six months out.”
On titles on his clubs/contract-
“This team showed overall determination the last two seasons like no other club has done,” said Pep.
“Four domestic titles last season and we’ve won seven of the last eight competitions we played. It’s almost impossible.
“But the desire is always there. I don’t think we are going to do something special because they have this inside of themselves to do this regardless.
“I am working with exceptional players; I have the feeling they follow us 100%.”
“I don’t know,” he said. “I am here one more year and after it depends. It depends on results, the future, we will be five seasons together.
“If the club is happy with me to extend the contract… but even now I want to focus on these three months, do game by game and win each game.
“I didn’t regret one second to come here or extend the contract. That is important.
“After that the results dictate our job. It all depends on the results; every manager is sacked every manager has problems that is the reality of our job.
“I want to finish this contract then after that we will see.”
That’s it for this week.
