Zack Steffen set to make Manchester City Champions League Debut

Steffen is feeling confident

Tomorrow night Manchester City are playing their final game in the Champions’ League group stages at home to Marseille.

City have already ensured they have finished top of the group after a goalless draw against Porto last week. Due to already being top of the group, City fans will be hoping to see some youngsters make the starting line-up.

It has emerged after a press conference earlier today that Zack Steffen is set to make his debut for City in the Champions’ League.

Steffen made his debut for the Blues against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup and also played against Burnley. Steffen said in his press conference he feels “settled and like my confidence is back and ready for tomorrow” which will encourage City fans and make them feel excited to see the quality of their new second choice goalkeeper.

Here were some other thoughts from the American keeper’-

“Coming here was tough at first, but now I feel settled and comfortable and I’m ready for more. I’ve learned a lot so far,” said Steffen.

“In fact. it’s been a pleasure to be here; it’s been awesome. I feel like I’ve gotten better and it’s been fun so far.

“I think the goalkeeping staff do a really good job of continuing to push all the keepers on a day-to-day basis.

“You can’t just come to training and give 50 percent. It has to be 100 and that’s why we are one of the best clubs in the world.”

“I am excited to play another game at the Etihad. I have to take my opportunities when I get them like Carabao Cup and tomorrow.

Along with Steffen, City fans will want to see youngsters such as Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who just signed a new deal with City keeping him at the club until 2024 and Cole Palmer who scored a brace against Liverpool u23s in City’s 7-2 win.
