Manchester City Women travel to Everton this afternoon in search of three points to boost their title chances. Victory for the blues will see them leapfrog Everton into fourth place, and close the gap on leaders Manchester United.
City have already beaten Everton twice this season in the League Cup and FA Cup Final, winning both games by a 3-1 scoreline and the blues will be hoping for a similar result today. City are unbeaten in their last three WSL games, winning one and drawing two, while in November, the blues won three out of four matches in all competitions. The only defeat was League Cup loss to United in a penalty shoot-out.
Everton beat Liverpool in the League Cup last time out, but have suffered two defeats from their last three games in all competitions.
Team News
Lauren Hemp could return to the squad after sustaining a hamstring injury in the Community Shield defeat to Chelsea in August. Alex Greenwood and Chloe Kelly, who had to withdraw from the England squad, could also be in contention for the match, but Megan Campbell is definitely out.
A View Of Everton
Lucy Graham is the main danger for Everton, having scored four goals in seven matches and with eleven shots on goal, she has a shot accuracy of 55%. Graham also has two assists to her name. However, former blue Izzy Christiansen is the midfield star with three assists and two goals so far this season.
Prediction
This will be a tough game for the blues as Everton will n doubt be looking for revenge for those two earlier defeats, but City should have enough to overcome the Mersey blues.
