Manchester City confirmed the top spot in Group C after a largely solid game that ended a goalless draw with Porto.

City had a number of good chances after the break and also saw a late goal ruled out by VAR as the hosts fought and clawed their way to the 0-0 draw they probably set out for.

A draw, group win, clean sheet and we move!

On to the reaction-

Pep Guardiola Reaction

“It doesn’t matter. We played incredibly well. We didn’t concede one attack. They are one of the best teams in Portugal, with the quality they have.”

“We played exceptionally well. We came here to finish first. Big congratulations to the team for the group stage.”

“We played with huge personality; with courage. It is not easy with eight players in the box. They are so strong with the full-backs, they are so fast. Even with that, we created enough chances to win. This is the most important thing.”

”I think a few players need rhythm, like Bernardo, Oleks, Fernandinho and Joao. I wanted to give them minutes for the rhythm. I have to know that I can trust the players. It is a competition for the players. Now it is time to focus on the Premier League.”

”This year especially, the UCL is tricky. When you lose one or two games you have to go to the last game and in COVID that’s tricky. It’s difficult, in other groups some incredible teams are struggling to qualify. In all the games away we’ve played a really high level.”

” In general, I am more than delighted with the performance in these games. We have one left, nothing to play for, just to maintain the rhythm. Now it’s time to forget the Champions League and focus on the Premier League.”
