Lionel Messi is still at an impasse with Barcelona leadership. Despite a conceding of Josep Bartomeu after resigning, Messi still wants a new challenge.

After not leaving in the summer, Messi could decide to leave soon. That might include a concrete move made in January. Including the possibility of a move in January or a signing of a pre contract as his expires in June 2021.

Deportes Cuatro, in Spain, reported that Lionel Messi has not forgotten his idea of leaving Barcelona, ‘he wants a winning project in order to continue at the club.’ A failure to prove that and City wil have a real chance at getting him.

That makes Manchester City an ideal landing spot. City are willing to close him in the coming weeks.

With a willingness to close the deal and a hefty wage packet, plus familiarity with Pep Guardiola and a real serious project, this could get done.
