Speaking ahead of the Wednesday match in the Champions League, Pep Gaurdiola touched on a variety of topics. From injuries, the lack of goals, and the match itself.

Let’s see what he said-

“We are a lucky profession because we can do our job (during lockdown). How many jobs are closed and will not reopen? We are waiting to come back with our fans, of course. If the government decides (to allow fans back), they must have listened to scientists and doctors.”

“They [the players] are so brave, the reason is the manager,” he said.

“I have to find a way to adapt to the quality we have. I have to adjust something to let them feel we can do something.

“It’s in my hands. They want to do it. I have to find a way to help them be what we were in previous seasons.

“We have to find a way. We have enough players to score the goals.”

“We want Aguero to come back. Today he’s training again, we want him to recover a good feeling in his knee. This is most important. One step at a time, we have many games and we’ll need him. We want to recover his best condition.”

“We have a chance now to almost qualify and that would be good to be in the best 16 teams in Europe. We have a good feeling. We know what we have to do. We know we are a team who scores a lot and now we are struggling with that, but I have to find a solution...”

“Little details we need to improve. But the moment we break these things, we will get better. And the season is so young. I am fully optimistic we will do a good season.”

“Everyone is fit except Nathan. It depends on the player’s performance on the pitch, they will play more regularly. Always, it is more difficult. It depends on how they perform. If they don’t perform well, there is a chance they can be replaced.”

“I have incredible full respect for Olympiakos. I know they struggle with injuries but they remain a team to win every game. I have a lot of respect. I am more concerned about what we have to do as a team to win another game.”

Interesting thoughts. A chance to seal a move to the next round is imperative and for City with the congestion of matches the faster they advance the better.
