With a poor start to the season, and City scoring just 10 goals in 8 games it is evident that we are lacking in front of goal. Manchester City great Sergio Aguero has been riddled with injuries and with him set to retire in the not-too-distant future, City need a star striker.

Whilst Gabriel Jesus is providing some decent statistics, he cannot be expected to play every game in City’s hectic schedule and there are doubts whether he can replace our Argentine superstar.

It has been reported by the Independent that Pep Guardiola has asked the Manchester City board to look into signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane. Currently Kane is 27-years old and has said he is willing to consider moving from the North London club if they fail to win any trophies this season.

Spurs are still in all competitions and will face the Championship’s Stoke City in Quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup in December so will be expected to breeze through into the Semi-Finals. A great striker like Harry Kane would want to have at least one trophy under his belt and if Spurs cannot provide this for him, City may be a better option.

However, another striker that has been linked to be Aguero’s successor is Erling Haaland who City have been linked to in recent weeks. Haaland is much younger than Kane at just 20 years old and recently won the Golden Boy 2020. In just 7 games in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund Haaland has netted 10 and provided 2 assists. In the Champions League so far, he has scored 4 goals in 3 matches.

Either would be ideal for City to help them be more clinical in front of goal as this has been such an issue so far this season. However, if we expect either of them to join City have to improve as they will both be after Champions League football next season and will want trophies under their belts.
