Transfer deadline day can often bring some surprises, and there was one for Manchester City fans to try and wrap their heads around as defender Angelino move to RB Leipzig on loan until the end of the season.
The defender only re-joined the blues for £3.5m in the summer and the Bundesliga side have the option to make the move permanent for an increased fee of £25.2m.
Although the Spaniard has only made 12 appearances this season, the move is a bit of a strange one, given Benjamin Mendy’s time on the sidelines in the last couple of seasons. Admittedly, Angelino was brought in as cover for the Frenchman, but it would have been expected that any such move would have taken place at the end of the season, not when City are fighting for three trophies and still waiting for Liverpool to collapse in the Premier League (never going to happen is it)?
Oleksandr Zinchenko has deputised in that position previously and has put in some good performances at left back, so maybe Pep thinks it’s time to cash in on a player who will really only be a back-up to the first team.
What do you think? Are City right to let Angelino go out on loan? Let us know your thoughts.
