Manchester City will face Championship opposition again as the continue their defence of the FA Cup. The blues will travel across the Pennines to face Sheffield Wednesday for a place in the quarter final.
The blues beat Fulham 4-0 on Sunday to secure their place in the draw, while Wednesday put out fellow Championship side Queens Park Rangers 2-1 at Loftus Road.
In a change to the usual format, FA Cup fifth round ties will be played on weekdays between 3rd and 5th March and will not go to a replay. If their isn’t a clear winner after 90 minutes, 30 minutes of extra time will be played, with penalties if their still isn’t a victor.
The match will be the fifth time the two teams have been drawn together, with City progressing on all five occasions, twice after the first game at Hillsborough had been drawn. City’s last visit to Hillsborough was in January 2007 in the FA Cup third round, which ended in a 1-1 draw, while City’s last win at the Owls was September 2001, which the blues won 6-2.
