Aymeric Laporte returned and helped Manchester City to a clean sheet on his first start in five months as the defending champions won again with a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United.

It had to be Sergio Aguero who came off the bench to nab the match winner, tapping home Kevin De Bruyne’s pinpoint cross from inside the six-yard box.

It was a moment of much needed relief, who saw Gabriel Jesus’ penalty saved by the impressive Dean Henderson in the first half of a toughly fought contest.

A win, a clean sheet and we move.

On to the reaction-

Pep Guardiola Reaction

“The response is always good,” said the City manager.

“It’s is a tough place to come but we controlled it and won the game at the end and we had more chances to score.

“After a defeat or draw the response is always good from the guys and we are so happy as we know what it is to play here.”

“Definitely it is a concern and I have to reflect about it,” the boss added.

“It’s something we will talk about. At this level it is so important.”

Sergio Aguero Reaction

“I always say that a goal is only important when we win,” said Aguero.

“I am happy as we needed three points to be more comfortable in second position.

“I am very hungry for goals and I am enjoying the moment, but the most important thing is my teammates as they help me all the time.”

Kyle Walker Reaction

”I think its says a lot about Sheffield United they are well organised and they set up well, but this man (Aguero) came on and got the goal

”It always good to be back here. What was important was to bounce back from loss of points against Palace and thankfully take the three points.

”Aymeric is a great player he has proved that we have missed him a lot though the players who have stepped in have done well.

”Sergio is one of the best players I’ve ever played with and I wish I could read crosses into the box and finish like he does!

”We have to look at ourselves as a team rather than individually and hopefully next season, or whatever we are fighting for in the cups this season - hopefully we can do it.”
