Manchester City Women’s Star Tessa Wullaert has once again been crowned Women’s Player of the Year in Belgium for 2019. The Manchester City midfielder claims the prestigious Golden Shoe, which is awarded to the best performing Belgian player in a calendar year.

The midfielder, who won the League and FA Cup double with City last season, beat Janice Cayman and Tine de Caigny to retain the award she won in 2018 and 2016

“I feel absolutely delighted to have won this award,” Wullaert said. “I’m incredibly proud to represent Belgium and it is amazing to be honoured as the Player of the Year. 2019 was a great year for me - personally and from a team point of view. To have won the Golden Shoe three times is very special and I am so happy to have completed the hat-trick!”

Wullaert currently captains the Belgium Red Flames and is the all-time leading scorer for the national side. Last season, she notched five goals from 30 appearances, but this season, she reached that tally in just 15 games.

Huge congratulations to Tessa on a thoroughly deserved award.
