Pep Guardiola spoke to the press and confirmed John Stones is ready to go. The City head man also spoke about Fernandinho. See full remarks:
“He’s (Stones) ready. I think for the next game against Norwich he will be ready.”
On Ferna: “He needs some processes, defensively especially, but he’s intelligent and he has a lot of experience. We’ll see. We’re going to work on it. Unfortunately we cannot now because it’s the international break. But we are going to work on it.”
On Ferna playing CB: “Fernandinho is a typical captain. He thinks for the group more than himself. He’s got incredible respect in the locker room and from our staff. That’s why he can do it.”
On Mahrez: “He has talent, he’s something special. I’m so happy for him because he loves to play football. We go to the training session and he’s the first to try and play with the ball. When he doesn’t play he’s not happy because he loves to play football. I like it a lot.”
Pep also looked forward to the International break for a well, break for some of his players, but also to work on fitness.
The International break comes at an opportune time for City with Laporte, Stones, Ferna and others in various stages of their injuries.
We’ll see how Pep and his coaching staff cope.
