Pep Guardiola Reaction

“After that, we had problems with Sigurdsson and trying to control him.

Everton have incredible players up front and experience in the middle and a good manager, so we knew it would be a tough game.

”Every season it is difficult at Goodison Park. With the ball we were outstanding.

“They had chances, but we had chances too, it was this kind of game. Football is sometimes unpredictable.

”We had a problem in the first half with our high pressing - they had one more player on our left side. It was between 25 to 35 minutes that we had problems.

“In the second half we showed, better quality. After Liverpool’s result, it was important to reduce the gap back to five points.

“We created problems, arrived in perfect positions, attacking their full backs, but we were not so clinical like we were against Watford.

“We had to defend incredibly well at times as they are very strong from set-pieces but Fernandinho and Ederson helped us a lot.

“We want to win this league again.”

“I want to make everyone involved. I want to let them play everybody,” he said.

“Everybody wants to play – I understand completely, but it’s the only way to maintain the level for 11 months.”

Raheem Sterling Reaction

“It was a really good moment, especially at 2-1 to make it 3-1- it was a really nice feeling,”

“I had chance earlier on and didn’t know I was onside until I dragged it wide - you just have to stay focused.

“I was running into the box, but thinking Riyad couldn’t make that pass, but it went through the defender’s leg, I took it early and I didn’t get enough on it.

“I knew another chance would come. I was waiting for an opportunity and it eventually came.

“But you have to finish chances like that off because in the Premier League you can be punished.”

“We know if have setback, we stick to our game plan,” he said.

“It’s important that we don’t get caught up doing something different after conceding and just continue playing how we do, and chances will come.

“Coming here is always one of the most difficult fixtures – I’ve always said that. We had to fight.

“We knew it would be tough get over the line.

“It is still early in season, there are still 90-odd points to play for, so we continue playing our game.

“We’re behind Liverpool, but the league can change very quickly so we need to stay focused and be ready.”
