Manchester City continued their excellent form in the EFL Cup, seeing ow that they have achieved 13 Carabao Cup victories in succession with a comfortable 3-0 win over Championship Preston North End.
The Blues did the hard work in the first half, going in at the break three goals up against the Championship side.
City will look to retain this trophy and are off to a hot start.
On to the reaction:
Pep Guardiola Reaction
“I’m happy for them,” said Pep. “They are training with us and we will need them, so they are going to help us.
“We defended well, and they gave a really good performance.”
“I think all the team helped them and they helped the team – it is not easy, but they did really well, and they are young, talented players with a strong mentality, and they complemented each other really well.
“With Gundogan, Bernardo and David in front of them, we tried to protect them, and they played with confidence.”
“Kyle needed a rest and wasn’t fit, and Mendy has missed most of the last two seasons, so we had Angelino and Cancelo playing from the start and they did well, too.
“We are thinking about Everton now – we will think about the Carabao Cup when we see the draw on Wednesday and play in the next round.
“We take every game seriously or else we wouldn’t be able to win all the trophies we won last season.
“Every game is important for us because we want to win everything we compete in and the way we played tonight, the way we ran and fought for the ball, we showed everyone how much we want to win and we can do it.”
Taylor Hardwood-Bellis Reaction
“It’s a dream come true to play for this Club,” he said.
“The dream has been there since I was five or six and to play in front of these fans with these players is just amazing. I loved every minute of it.”
“It’s always your goal to make the first team. I wasn’t expecting it. I knew I’d have to work for it.
“To make my debut here is unbelievable.”
