After a series of entertaining matches on the opening day of the 2019/20 English Premier League season, two of the EPL’s top clubs will go head to head on Saturday. Manchester City will host Tottenham Hotspur on EPL Matchday 2.
Manchester City are without the injured Leroy Sané and Benjamin Mendy.
Tottenham Hotspur are without Dele Alli, Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon as the trio are sidelined with various injuries. Meanwhile, Son Heung-min and Juan Foyth will serve the final portion of their suspensions as they earned red cards in the 1-0 loss to Bournemouth on Matchday 37 of the 2018/19 season.

Following last season’s Quarter-final tie in the UEFA Champions League, a new rivalry has emerged between these two sides. Tensions were high in the second leg of the Champions League Quarter-finals, and frustrations blew over in an EPL match between these two teams a few days after their Champions League tie.
Given this recent history, it is predicted this EPL fixture will be an open and entertaining match. Managers Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino have a complicated past, and they will be sure to try and outdo one another on the touchline as their squads look to win this match. Moreover, it will be crucial for both teams to earn maximum points from this fixture as this early match means they will have one less difficult game later on in the season.
Manchester City scored five goals against a lackluster West Ham United side last weekend. Having already retained the Community Shield at the start of this season, the Sky Blues look as if they are starting right where they left off in 2018/19 season.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur struggled against Aston Villa last weekend and the Spurs needed time to grow into the game. Though they eventually overcame Villa 3-1, Tottenham will not have the same luxury against City. Should the Spurs be unable to find their rhythm at the start of the match, they will surely be punished.
Overall, this should be an entertaining match. It will be a close, but by full time it is predicted Manchester City will have done just enough to edge out Tottenham Hotspur.
