Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said Leroy Sane’s future at the club is in the players hands and not in the club’s.
Speaking after the blues won their latest pre-season friendly 6-1 against Kitchee FC, Guardiola said he Sane can leave, but hope he doesn’t. “We want him to stay and there is an offer waiting to talk with his agents to extend the contract,” said Guardiola. “It is not in our hands. He has to decide. If he wants to leave, he can do it but we will be sad. Hopefully he stays.”
Sane, who scored two goals in the win against Kitchee, has been the subject of intense speculation all summer, with senior figures at Bayern stating they would like him to join the German giants. Sane has another two years left on his City contract and has so far not committed to talks over a new contract.
The German was named Young PFA Player of the Year in 2018, but spent a lot of time on the bench last season, although he still managed to score was in and out of the team, yet he still managed to score sixteen goals in all competitions, and Bayern are rumoured to be ready to pay up to £100m to take him back to his homeland.
What do you think? Should City sell Sane if they offered £100m, or should they keep hold of him no matter what cost?
