Manchester City’s women’s team will begin their WSL title challenge with a visit from neighbours United.

The blues, who finished runners up last season to champions Arsenal, welcome last season’s second tier champions for their first ever derby meeting. The blues won the FA Cup and League Cup last season, but lost out by seven points to the Gunners last term, and will be eager to get off to a good start against the newly promoted reds.

The opening match will be played on the weekend of 7/8 September, and the rest of the season’s fixtures will be announced on 10th July.

Next season will see the start of a three-year partnership with Barclays, which will see include a prize-money pot of £500,000, when previously, WSL winners have not been awarded any official prize money.
