Brazil and Argentina Struggle on Matchday 2

Matchday 2 in the 2019 Copa América saw Brazil and Argentina struggle in their respective groups as both sides were frustrated by weaker opponents.

In Group A, hosts Brazil took on Venezuela in what resulted in a goalless draw. Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho came on as second half substitutes whilst Ederson sat on the bench. The result means Brazil are now at the top of Group A with four points, and they will take on Peru on the final day of the group stage. A victory or draw on Matchday 3 for the Seleção would see them advance to the competition’s knockout stages.

Meanwhile, Argentina faced Paraguay in Group B. The Argentines were once again shocked by weaker opposition in what saw them nearly eliminated from the competition. Nicolás Otamendi started in the match whilst Sergio Agüero came on as a substitute in the second half. The Argentines had difficulty breaking through the composed Paraguayan defence and the match ended 1-1.
