Manchester City Women’s defender Esme Morgan has signed a new three year contract, tying her to the club until 2022.
18 year old Morgan is a life-long City fan and has made 20 appearance already for her beloved blues, and wants to continue her development within the City academy. Speaking to City TV, Morgan said “It feels amazing. I can’t really describe it – it doesn’t seem real!
“It’s such a dream for me, as a City fan. I’ve been supporting them since I was small so now, to have a future at the Club in writing is an amazing feeling. I had so many shirts as a fan so to wear one as a player and have fans cheering for me is incredible.
“For me, it’s about the opportunity. The facilities here are incredible, the teammates I get to play with on a day-to-day basis are world-class - there are so many playing for the World Cup now – and the staff are so supportive and knowledgeable.
“From the ground up, it’s an amazing Club with a great structure – a Club with a high ambition to always progress and be the best we can.”
The defender joined the blues initially as a midfielder at Under 15 level but has progressed at such a rate that she was included in Nick Cushing’s first team in August 2017, and has since become a regular in the squad.
We wish Esme the best of luck as she continues her progress with the team.
