What a signing coup for Pep Guardiola who signed Garcia away from the Barcelona Academy last Summer after serious competition from all of Europe’s elite teams.
Garcia was a big figure of the Under-18s side which won the Under-18 Premier League Cup and also reached the FA Youth Cup final.
Garcia also made his first team breakthrough, being handed his senior debut in our Carabao Cup quarter-final win at Leicester in December and going on to make several more appearances.
Here in the video link below Garcia reflects on his campaign to remember and reveals how the philosophy of City’s Academy set-up helped him make a smooth transition to both training and playing with the first team.

Garcia also said: “To be honest it has been an incredible season (personally),” says Garcia. “I had the opportunity to play for the first team on the summer tour to America, then to play for the Under-23s is always good and in December I made my debut against Leicester.”
City’s academy is already bearing results in that of Phil Foden on the first team and with other notable academy grads succeeding elsewhere like Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund, it’s safe to say Pep Guardiola has had a successful spell with the Academy.
Now, hopefully City can keep some of the stars its bearing.
