Manchester City are top of the league! Thanks to second-half goals from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane gave City a tremendous 2-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

In a tense, nervy derby, the Blues slowly took command after half time to secure a victory that takes the defending champions back above Liverpool with three games remaining for both clubs.

It was City’s eleventh straight Premier League victory as this absorbing title race saw the lead at the top change for the 28th time this season. City also had a record set during the match:

Now, on to the reaction:

Pep Guardiola Reaction

“We lost some balls in the middle of the pitch in the first half and they had counter attacks. We did well to win the game in the second half. Fortunately we made an incredible second half.”

“It’s important to be calm. We are still not champions with three games left - it’s incredible with the points we and Liverpool have. I told the players don’t read tomorrow, don’t watch the television, just rest and sleep a lot and go in there against Burnley.”

“Both teams deserve the title. But it can be just one. The team that is going to lose can’t have regrets because they have given everything. Normally with this kind of derby victory you can it enjoy it the most but we have to be calm.”

“But we stayed alive. How we react is more important than other things you can say, then come here to United and win for the third time in a row, especially today with the pressure we had. Nothing changes whether we win or not, they have my incredible respect.”

“I think that is the most difficult and most nice detail for these players. You cannot imagine how tough it was for all of us to go out of the CL when we thought it was there, it was really really tough. Then we have TOT at home, not best performance...”

Guardiola on Sane: “Leroy attacking the byline is a special player. I’m so demanding of him, I can be critical of him... he can be a special player. Today he played so good, he played at a high level.”

Leroy Sane Reaction

“Amazing. Really happy about this win today because it’s the Derby. It’s an important game and it’s also really important for the Premier League.

”I think when you have the Derby and you win this big game it gives us a lot of confidence. Especially with three games left to play, every one of us wants to do the back-to-back.”
