Manchester City are looking to take Spanish international Saul Niguez away from Atletico Madrid.
He is noted by many, including Pep, to be the perfect replacement for veteran defensive midfielder Fernandinho as City need to fix their biggest weakness in Pep Guardiola’s team this summer.
The Mirror’s report states that Saul is “only two years into a nine-year contract at the end of the season - and is welded to Atletico even further by a staggering £130million buy-out clause.”
A fee of that size could be deemed too expensive even for a club as rich as City, but the Premier League champions will still strongly explore the possibility of bringing one of Spain’s better players to the Etihad.
I’d think he would be a fantastic replacement for Ferna. Add to that a possible new LB and City would clearly have one of Europe’s best squads.
